Rena Sparrow Jordan, resident of Bath NC, went home to be with her Lord early Sunday morning, January 9, 2022. She was 81.
Rena was born in Hyde County to William (Bill) Edward Sparrow and Pattie Christine Daniels Sparrow in September 1940. The family later moved to Belhaven NC where Rena attended John A. Wilkinson School. She served as her class treasurer and was a cheerleader. She was the youngest of four siblings and was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Sparrow. She is survived by her sisters, Norma Sparrow Sikes and Elizabeth (Liz) Sparrow McGowan.
After graduation she married Plum Beamon Jordan of Ransomville, NC, who also preceded her in death. Rena and Beamon had four children: Natalie Jordan Clark, Chris Jordan, Sonya Jordan Selby, and Patrick Jordan. She also had seven grandchildren: Ashley Harding, Jordan Clark and Rachel Clark Mayer, Brent, Brittany S. Sessions, and Ben Selby, and Chelsey Perry Babcock. She was blessed with eight great grandchildren: Jackson, Brantley, and Clayton Harding, Emaline, Sparrow, Jude, and Magnolia Clark, and Matthew L. Mayer. She loved and will be remembered by a multitude of nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Rena spent her life as a devoted wife and loving mother. She was founding member and faithful, active servant in many capacities of the North Brunswick Christian Church in Brunswick, GA before returning to North Carolina later in life.
Having lived in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, Rena loved St. Simons Island, GA best. This also created a love of History and fostered her love for reading. She enjoyed travelling and took many trips with her husband and family. She also enjoyed Genealogy, fishing, going to auctions with her friends and spending time with her family.
There will be a graveside service at Saint Clair’s Church of Christ Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive visitors at the Selby Farms, Hwy. 92, afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in her name to:
