Candidate filing for the 2022 primary resumed Thursday across North Carolina.

Five candidates filed to run for office at the Beaufort County Board of Elections. Sheriff Ernie Coleman, a Republican, filed for reelection, while Democratic candidates Harold Bright Jr. and Petre Franks filed as candidates for sheriff as well; Republican Terry Williams filed for reelection to District 4 on the Beaufort County Schools Board of Education; and Dawn Brinson Slann filed as a Republican candidate for one of three seats up for election on the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners.

The fling period will end at noon on March 4.
