Beaufort County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in tracking down a suspect who attempted to break into a local store.

Crime Stoppers said on Monday, Feb. 28, an unknown suspect cut telephone wires at the River Mart on River Road in Washington to disable the alarm system, and then attempted to break into the store.

“After 20 minutes, the suspect gave up, realizing he was too weak to break the door in. Common sense finally prevailed, and the suspect left empty handed,” a Crime Stoppers press release reads.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the case in general is asked to call Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400. Crime Stoppers tips are anonymous.
