Thomas Eugene Yates, 67, 112 Brittney Place, Washington, NC died Thursday, March 3, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March the 9th at Leon R Memorial Chapel, 208 W. MLK. Jr. Dr., Washington NC.

Thomas was born to the late Roosevelt and Arnell Moore Yates in Beaufort County on November 19, 1953. He graduated from Greenport High School in New York. Things he liked to do include landscaping, singing, traveling, flying drones, and telling tall tales.

He joined Met.A.M.E. Zion Church 2020 where he was an outstanding member serving in the Chapel and gospel choirs, usher board, youth leaders and Pastor’s Appreciation Committee.

Yates was a member of consumer Advisory Board (CAB) for Ryan White program with Met.  Community Health and later partnering ECU and BD member of agape clinic until death, also a Peer Education/ Volunteer for Metro housing/Metropolitan Property Management as a Contractor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six uncles one aunt.  Survivors one brother Artis Yates, three sisters: Shirley Brown, Sarah Yates and Judy Golson, two uncles James and Samuel Yates, one aunt Elaine Moore, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
