The Kiwanis Club of Washington presents their first-ever Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser April 23, at Washington Airport at 11 AM. Kevin Hardy (left), Golf Ball Drop chairperson, and Paige Davis (right) reported on plans for the event at a recent Kiwanis meeting.
At 11:30 AM a helicopter will drop 500 numbered golf balls in a target area at the airport. The three balls closest to the center will receive cash prizes; $1,500, for closest to the center, $1,000, for second-closest and $500 for third closest. Winners do not need to be present.
Profits from the event benefit Bright Futures of Beaufort County plus Kiwanis service projects and scholarships for the youth of Beaufort County. Kevin Hardy, Kiwanis chairperson for the project, said, “Every dollar spent on balls directly supports the youth of our community.”
Tickets for golf balls may be purchased through the Charity Valet website, www.charityvalet.com/KWNC . One ball is $25, five are $100. There are two sponsor levels for the event: Silver Sponsor includes 10 balls for $200, and Gold Sponsor includes 20 balls for $300. As an alternative to online transactions, tickets may be purchased with a check or cash from any Kiwanis member. Deadline to purchase tickets online is 10 A.M. on the day of the event.
