Southside’s Jacqueline Hernandez joined Northside’s Samantha Braddy, Emaleigh Cherry Jaden Clark and on the All-Coastal Plains Conference softball team.
Hernandez, a sophomore outfielder, bounced back from an injury that cost her most of her freshman season to hit. 465 with 25 runs batted in. 26 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. She had nine extra-base hits, including six doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs.
“She did it all for us and worked hard to improve,” coach Kam Rouse said. “She did a great job of reading the ball off the bat in centerfield and got to balls that I didn’t think would be caught. She’s very coachable and is passionate about the game. I’m glad she is coming back next year.”
Cherry and Clark, both sophomores and the freshman Braddy helped the Panthers to the fourth round of the 1A playoffs after a second place finish in the conference.
“Jaden did a great job on the mound after Bella (Boykin) was hurt, and it will really help us to have both of them next year,” Coach Michelle Leathers said. “Emaleigh started our offense most games and Samantha did a great job as a freshman. It will be great to have all three of them back and I’m confident we will make another strong showing next year.”
