Pitt County, NC – At 8:16 PM on Saturday September 24, 2022, deputies from the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to respond to the Pitt County Fairgrounds to a report of subjects stabbed.
Although unannounced, Sheriff Dance had authorized the deployment of some off-duty deputies in the immediate area of the fairgrounds in case of an emergency. As a result, the first 3 deputies arrived on the scene at 8:18 PM, 2 minutes after being notified of the incident.
Two stabbing victims, ages 19 and 17, were located inside the fair. Reports indicate that they were assaulted by a group of 6-10 males. Both victims were transported to the hospital by EMS. There is no information on their conditions.
