Mr. Elbert E. Barber, Sr., age 84, a resident of Jamesville, NC died Tuesday November 15, 2022 at ECU Health Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday November 18, 2022 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be officiated by John Hilts, Sr. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include, Justin Barber, Travis Barber, Mark Barber, Matthew Styons, Brian Cooke, and Caleb Johnson.

Mr. Barber was born on February 8, 1938 in Martin County to the late Elbert Wilbur Barber and Idell Jackson. On September 15, 1956 he married Sybil Marie Jordan who preceded him in death on June 17, 2016. He was a member of Jamesville Christian Church. Mr. Barber enjoyed motorcars and woodworking.

Survivors include two sons, Elbert Earl “Bert” Barber, Jr. and wife Denise of North Augusta, SC, Christopher Scott Barber of Hollywood, FL, a daughter-in-law, DeAnne Barber of Zebulon, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Lela Styons of Jamesville, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a son, Rex Allen Barber, two brothers, James Colon Barber, Joe Barber, and one sister Brenda Hilton.

The family will receive friends Thursday November 17, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
