Mr. James Ilsley Baxter Marle, a resident of Pamlico Plantation, Washington, died at his home on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was 90 years old.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 2, 2022, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington. Interment will follow in the Chapel Garden.
Jay was born in Wallasey, England on June 28, 1932. He was the son of the late Frank James Marle and Sarah Marle. Jay was a retired certified public accountant with American Express. Jay lived and worked in England until his transfer to the U.S. in 1971. He lived in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey before moving to Washington, North Carolina after he retired.
After moving to Washington, Jay served as a member, lay reader, and Treasurer at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Washington Yacht and Country Club, where he served on the Board. He also served on the Board of the Beaufort County Arts Council. In his spare time, Jay enjoyed golfing.
Jay is survived by Bernice, his loving wife of 64 years, and family: his children Tina Williams (Leon), Tracey Chatlin (Steve), and Simon James Marle (Lisa); his grandchildren Michael, Kevin, Logan, Trenton, and Tyler; his brother, Peter Marle (Jackie).
