Arts of the Pamlico (AOP) Board of Directors recently announced Joan “Gayle” Watson, former Vice Chair, as 2023-2024 Board Chair.
Gayle has served on the Board of Directors for the last three years in addition to being a local business owner and dance instructor.
“As we move forward with our Time for the Turnage theme for 2023, I look forward to inspiring and motivating people to become involved and participate in all the events and activities the Turnage has to offer,” Watson said. “My biggest aspiration will be to help get the plans in place to renovate the Vaudeville Playhouse and see it in operation as quickly as possible. Having this other venue working as part of our theatre will present so many opportunities for people to gather and experience the charm and ambiance that is the hallmark of the Turnage Theatre. I look forward to working with our Executive Director, Beth Strange, and supporting her and leading the Board to be the group that gets things done.”
Arts of the Pamlico thanks Gail Baird for her dedicated service as a Board Chair and Board Member for the past two years. Gail is proud to have served at one of the oldest arts councils in North Carolina and looks forward to seeing all the unique and valuable arts programs coming to the historic Turnage Theatre. Gail was most excited when she worked on new fundraising events with other Board members and volunteers in support of the cultural mission of AOP and looks forward to continuing in volunteer roles.
AOP remains committed to continuing the mission of Arts of the Pamlico at the historic Turnage Theatre to present a wide range of educational, entertainment, and cultural programs, and to encourage the same by advancing and supporting the efforts of local artists, art organizations and art businesses throughout the region.
