Bam Adebayo has been selected as an NBA All-Star for the second time in his professional career.
The Miami Heat center and former Northside Panther will participate as a reserve in the Feb. 19 game at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. Adebayo’s selection was voted on by NBA coaches and announced last week.
Adebayo, 25, has now earned All-Star selections in two of his six NBA seasons. He first accomplished that honor in the 2019-20 season. He also won the NBA’s All-Star Skills Challenge in 2020.
During his Northside career, Adebayo averaged a double-double in three seasons for the Panthers, including 32.2 points and 21 rebounds per game during his junior campaign.
Ranked one of the nation’s top 10 prospects by ESPN, Adebayo transferred to High Point Christian Academy his senior year before signing with the University of Kentucky.
Adebayo was drafted 14th overall by Miami in the 2017 NBA Draft. In 2020 he signed a five-year contract extension with the Heat that will pay him a minimum of $163 million and as much as $195.6 million with incentives.
The NBA All-Star Game airs Sunday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. on TNT.
