America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico holds squadron elections

America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico

The Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron, publically known as America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico, held its Annual Meeting and Change of Watch on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. The Change of Watch is an annual event including election of officers to begin the new 2023 Watch Year. We were joined by our District 27 Representative, D/Lt/C Otis White, P who traveled from Cape Fear, NC to preside over the Installation of the new Bridge Officers.

The new Bridge Officers are energized and ready for 2023. The elected officers are:

Commander – Walt Morrissey
Executive Officer – Rio DeGennaro, P
Education Officer – Bob Vecchi, P
Treasurer – Tom Graham, SN
Secretary – Marissa Morrissey
Asst Education Officer – Cathy Karlovich, JN
Asst Admin Officer-Social – Lorne Hope, AP
Asst Admin Officer-Boating – Tadd Herron, P and Karen Tucci-Herron, P
Asst Treasurer – Bob Young, AP
Asst Secretary – Edith Hope

The 2023 Budget was reviewed with the membership and approved. Returning Commander Walt Morrissey referred to the Squadron’s Accomplishment Report for 2022. Last year was outstandingly successful with many skill building educational courses, Vessel Safety Inspections ensuring our recreational boaters are safe and their boats have all the necessary safety equipment required by law. Plus, membership enjoyed many boating, social and speaker events throughout the year.
In addition to the Annual Meeting and the installation of Officers for 2022, a highlight was the recognition of outstanding efforts and awards for achievement given to various members for their contribution to America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico’s mission. Those Awards included: The Past Commanders Recognition Award to Liz Wheeler, the Bob Hatala Education Award to Mike Karlovich; the Colwell Perseverance Award to Susie Templeton; the Community Award to Bill Sholl and the Commander’s Award to Cathy Karlovich. Other recognition of positive efforts for our Club was Rio DeGennaro, Bill Ramsden, Chris Young and Tadd & Karen Herron.
America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing superior boating safety and skill building, civic service and fellowship.  They are a unit of the national United States Power Squadron® publically known as America’s Boating Club TM.
