Smith, Woolard advance in Greensboro

Two Washington High School wrestlers won their first round match at the 2A state tournament in Greensboro Thursday night.
Junior Braxton Woolard pinned his Salisbury opponent in the 120 lb. class, while classmate Bryant Smith pinned his Providence Grove foe in the 152 lb. division.
Both advance in the championship bracket and will wrestle multiple times Friday.
Freshmen David B. Meza, Gabe Foreman and Tate Tucker lost in the first round and will compete in the consolation bracket today in the double-elimination event.
Junior Christian Price forfeited his 106 lb. first round match after not making weight and junior TraQuan Haywood did not compete after violating team rules.
The 1A state tournament starts Friday morning.
Northside’s Javion O’Neal and Southside’s Elyjaih Baldwin will be in action Friday.
