Michael Wayne Cooke, age 50, a resident of Chocowinity, NC, died Thursday, March 2, 2023 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church and will be officiated by David Pooser. Burial will follow in the Cooke Family Cemetery in Bath. Pallbearers include Darrell Cooke, Anthony Cooke, Robbie Swain, Johnie Cleary, Bryce Beamon and Dylan Humbles.
Mr. Cooke was born in Beaufort County on August 21, 1972 to Charles Arnold Cooke and Sondra Alligood Cooke. He was a graduate of Pungo Christian Academy and attended some college. On September 18, 2021 he married, the love of his life, Stephanie Dawn Foy who survives. He worked as a supervisor at Thermo Fisher in Greenville. Mr. Cooke enjoyed playing many instruments, especially guitar, writing music, and singing. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, motocross, and was a good artist. Mr. Cooke was a hard worker. He was a kind soul, and a friend to everyone he met.
In addition to his wife he is survived by, two children, Jordan Danielle Cooke of Greenville, Alethea Taylor Dozier and husband Tyler of Oklahoma City, OK, his mother, Sondra Alligood Cooke, three Stepsons, Brooks Austin Beamon, Bryce Aubrey Beamon, Dylan Chase Humbles, a sister, Brandi Cooke Robbins and husband William of Greenville, two brothers, Darrell Lee Cooke of Greenville, Anthony Cooke and wife Charity of Nags Head, his step mother, Margie Cooke Tankard and husband John, his nieces, nephew and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Arnold Cooke.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church.
