Melrose Styons Waters, 93, of Plymouth, passed into her eternal rest on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at ECU Health Bertie County Hospital.
Melrose Styons Waters was born in Washington County on August 17, 1929, to the late Lewis Staten and Mary Hardison Styons. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Jackson Waters and, son Kenneth Wayne Waters.
She spent her working years as a nurse’s assistant. She was a member of the Plymouth Church of Christ and loved attending with her family and friends. She was a living example of a Christian, showing love and compassion to all. She loved her grandchildren, cooking for the family, and making chocolate cakes. She looked forward to her phone conversations with her sons.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Plymouth Church of Christ, officiated by Jay Hardison. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Plymouth Church of Christ.
Melrose is survived by her sons, Carl J. Waters Jr. (Betty) of Parktown, MD, Geary Waters (Terry) of Plymouth, Charles Waters (Michele) of Plymouth, and Randy Waters of Fuquay Varina; two daughters, Susan W. Arrants of Beaufort, NC and Jacquelyn W. Adams (Wade) of Jamesville; a daughter in law, Linda Waters of Plymouth; eighteen grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Raymond Earl Styons (Charlene) of Winston Salem, and her sister, Pat Lynn of Plymouth.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by a daughter in law Donna T. Waters; a son in law Eddie Arrants; five brothers: Lewis Styons, Jr., William Styons, Marion Styons, Nick Styons, and Phillip Styons; and two sisters, Helen Miller and Margaret Lynn.
