Do you know who you are voting for in the election this November?
Yes, just five months ago Beaufort County citizens voted to send U.S. Congressman Greg Murphy to Washington D.C. and Representative Keith Kidwell to the North Carolina General Assembly to represent them and they voted to add three new faces to the Board of Education as well as voting for new Sheriff, Scott Hammonds; however, they will make their pilgrimage back to the polls to vote for their city or town’s council members, aldermen and commissioners on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
In North Carolina, municipality elections are held in odd-numbered years. These elections directly affect citizens’ lives the most, because they are choosing the people who make decisions about tax rates, services like trash pick-up, policing, economic development and more.
This year, 93 out of the state’s 100 counties will have an election this fall. Those who are not having an election are; Clay, Stanly, Currituck, Hyde, Gates, Person and Surry.
The North Carolina Board of Elections’ interactive map shows how many seats citizens can vote for and the dates of one or more elections.
