Mrs. Delia Ann Thompson, “Ann” of Washington, NC died Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Ridgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center. She was 89.

The family will receive friends and family from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 17th, at Paul Funeral Home, 900 John Small Avenue in Washington, NC and at other times at the home of Paul and Ruth Thompson.

No funeral is planned but a private family graveside memorial service will be held where family members will have the opportunity to express their happy memories of their times with Ann.

Ann was born October 13, 1933, in Washington, NC. She was the daughter of the late Luke Jackson and Bettie Frances Ball Jackson of Washington. She graduated from Washington High School in 1952 and after graduation moved to Lebanon, IN to become an X-Ray Technician. It was there that she met her husband Graham. Many years later, in 1973, she moved back to Washington, NC and lived there until the time of her death.

Ann was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ. She was a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and sang in the choir. Ann loved large family gatherings and preparing home-cooked meals. She loved all of her grandchildren dearly. Ann especially enjoyed going to her grandsons’ baseball and football games. Her favorite activity was completing crossword puzzles and word searches.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Clarence Thompson who died in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Luke Jackson and Bettie Frances Ball Jackson, her brothers, Wilmer Jackson and Luke Jackson, Jr., and her sisters Athalia Faye Jackson, Hilda Mae Jackson and Doris Magdalene Jackson Roach.

She is survived by her daughter, Frances Elaine Thompson of Washington; and two sons, Paul Kevin Thompson and wife, Ruth Tankard Thompson of Washington and Graham Stephen Thompson and husband, Michael Stephen Roberts of Charlotte. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher Lee Eisenzimmer and wife Ann Gordon Pelletier Eisenzimmer of Wilmington, NC; Austin Paul Thompson and wife Serda Yalkin of Durham, NC; Patrick Steven Thompson and wife Megan Baldwin Thompson of Bath; Isaac Benjamin Thompson and wife Ana Berenice Thompson of Canyon Country, CA; Joshua David Thompson of Charlotte, NC; Elizabeth Anne Thompson and partner Jong Pak of Chicago, IL and Jared Thompson of Austin, TX. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
