National Weather Service monitoring soggy and windy Memorial Day Weekend

The National Weather Service is forecasting rain, thunderstorms and wind this Memorial Day Weekend for Beaufort County.
Thursday, May 25 is expected to have winds that are between 10 and 15mph with frequent wind gusts up to 20mph. Wind will continue through Friday climbing upward between 15-20mph with wind gusts between 25-30mph. Winds are predicted to continue through midnight Saturday. Highest winds are predicted between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
On Friday, rain will begin at around 8 p.m. and continue through Monday. Areas west of Highway 17 are expected to receive 1-1 1/2 inches of rain while other areas are expected to receive 2-3 inches of rain. Heaviest rains are anticipated for 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday and 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on Monday.
Thunderstorms are predicted for Saturday afternoon and evening from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
