On May 31, 2023 at 9:30 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a domestic assault in progress at 805 Betsy Elbow Road, Washington N.C.

Deputies responded and found two individuals deceased at the residence.

Bobbie Jean Woolard, age 48, was found shot to death inside the residence. Don Michael Woolard Jr., age 50, was found outside the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

EMS personnel pronounced both dead at the scene. A juvenile child from the residence was unharmed during the incident.
