Betty Florence Cox Norden, age 78, born June 25, 1944, of the late Josh and Florence Cox of Washington, NC, has departed this earthly life to enter into eternal rest with Jesus Christ on June 8, 2023.

Family and friends will miss her bright smile and quick wittiness. Her four children and three grandchildren were foremost on her mind. She would often say, “forgive me for boasting, but let me tell you about my children. Her eyes always lit up whenever they were the topic of conversation.

She loved watching Dr. Charles Stanley and was always sharing his message with others. She was a telephone prayer warrior and ready to pray with or comfort those in need.

Betty is survived by her four children, Melanie Florence McRoy of Blount’s Creek, NC, Christina Leigh Chandler of Nassau, Bahama, Don Wayne Chandler of Washington, NC, and Joshua Wade Chandler of Chocowinity, NC. Four grandchildren: McKenna Leigh McRoy (fiancé Dr. Michael Shea) of Hartsville, SC; Courtney Dail Carrow of Altamonte Springs, FL; Chandler Ray Carrow (fiancé Melianis Cruz) of Jacksonville, FL.

Betty was the first born and is also survived by two sisters; Josie (late Gordon) Pippin of Bayview, NC; Frances (Melvin) Smith of Morehead City, NC.

Memorial Services for Betty will be Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at 15th Street Church of God, Washington, NC.
