Jannie Elizabeth Cutler Smith, age 82, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Autumnfield of Belhaven.

A funeral service was held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven and was officiated by Ricky Adams. Burial followed in Smithton Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Alan Batchler, Donnie Cutler, Scotty Mason, Cade Smith, Brett Smith, and Fred Smith IV. Donald Cutler, Sr. served as an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Smith was born in Beaufort County on December 12, 1940, to the late Wilber Cutler and Nellie Congleton Cutler. She attended Bath High School. Mrs. Smith was a Nursing Assistant with Autumnfield and was a seamstress at Sampson Shirt Factory. She attended New Hope Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was known for her homemade fudge and sea foam.

Survivors include her son, Joey Smith and wife Beverly of Belhaven, three grandchildren, Jeremy Foreman (Maryellen) of Washington, Jenna Mainhart (Chris) of Winterville, Bethany Taylor (Justin) travelers of the U.S. Coast Guard, and six great grandchildren, Travis Taylor, Oakland Mainhart, Zane Foreman, Gabe Foreman, Andrew Foreman, Corajayne Foreman, a sister, Sylvia Hill (Ted) of Washington and her companion, Paul Norman.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Lafayette Smith, two brothers, Terry Cutler, Edward Cutler, and two sisters, Nellie Mae Cutler, and Lorina Modlin.

The family received friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
