Mr. John McCoy “Coy” Fulcher, age 80, a resident of Lakeland Drive, Washington, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 22, 2023, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Ray West. A burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Richie Gladson, Kendall Gaskins, Allen Buck, Ben Buck, David Evans, and Shane Holt.
Mr. Fulcher was born in Beaufort County on May 14, 1943. He was the son of the late Milton Cedric Fulcher, Sr., and Gracie Estelle Civils Fulcher. Mr. Fulcher graduated from Washington High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic from October 16, 1964, to August 24, 1966. Mr. Fulcher retired in 2011.
Mr. Fulcher worked for Life of Virginia Insurance, Texasgulf, was owner of Monk’s Cheese Steaks in Carolina East Mall in Greenville, and most recently as a Correctional officer at Craven Correctional Institute in Vanceboro.
If you ever had the honor of meeting him, you probably walked away laughing or with a big smile! He was a joy filled human who loved to brighten someone’s day with his quick wit and contagious smile. He would want us to cherish the memories that brightened your day with at least a smile at this time of Homecoming.
On July 28, 1967, Mr. Fulcher married the former Nancy Buck, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are his son, Mark M. Fulcher and wife, Julie of Lapeer, Michigan; daughter, Jeanell F. Woolard and husband, Brad of Washington; grandchildren, Rodney Garrett Fulcher, Brigette Julia Fulcher, Ashlynn Miranda Woolard and Braxton Lee Woolard; nephew, John Fulcher, and wife, Ashley of Jefferson, NH and special friend and caregiver, Shelia Simmons.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fulcher was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Cedric Fulcher, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
