Northside head football coach Keith Boyd was named an assistant coach for the East-West all-star game in 2024. Boyd has been the Panther head coach for over 10 years and finished with a winning record for the past four straight seasons. He will coach the best high school players in the East from 1A to 4A.

“It is certainly an honor,” Boyd said. “I truly wasn’t expecting it. There are so many other guys at bigger schools that get more attention. I was very surprised, but I’m honored to be recognized by my peers.”

Boyd’s role on the team is still undetermined. Boyd said it is still in the early stages and the head coach has only contacted him once so far.  The head coach, Beau Williams, will determine where each coach will fit on the team.

Boyd told Williams he will go wherever he can. “I can coach any position on defense or offensive line for offense. I can fit in wherever he needs me to. It will depend on what Williams wants to do,” Boyd said.

The game will be held after the state championships in December. There have been no players announced yet, only the coaches have been named to the teams.

Boyd said he and the other coaches will have to watch film at a later date and they will determine who is on the team.

Boyd is very excited to coach in the game. “I am looking forward to the opportunity,” Boyd said. “I get to meet other players and coaches that I never would have before. This is a great opportunity and I’m excited for the memories that I can make while coaching.”
