Greenville — Elaine Vernelson Taylor went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 4, 2023. Mrs. Taylor, a native of Pitt County, was a graduate of Farmville High School and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a Christian woman who loved Jesus. She enjoyed her interactions with those she met in her banking and real estate careers. She opened the Southern Nest in Washington, NC where she fulfilled her dream for buying and selling antiques.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 PM at Parker’s Chapel FWB Church. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 PM until the funeral hour at the church.

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Walter Taylor; parents, Rev. J. D. and Lillian Vernelson; brothers, John and Joe Vernelson; and brother-in-law, Billy Mizell.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Taylor and Timothy Taylor and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Cameron, Carter, Colton and Abigail; sisters, Ann James and husband, Douglas, Linda Mizell; brothers, Hilton Vernelson and wife, Shirley, and Wayne Vernelson and wife, Sherry; sister-in-laws, Ann Vernelson and Ellen Vernelson; and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank all of the family and friends who have visited over the past few months.
