Pam Pack open the football season on the road against Croatan. They will play some bigger schools for their off-conference schedule but head coach Matt Taylor is excited for the challenge.

“I expect our team to compete every week,” Taylor said. “We play a very tough non-conference schedule which will hopefully prepare us for our conference. With our schedule, we don’t get any weeks off and we are just looking to compete and show our brand of football.”

Taylor said the whole team has been working hard to contribute on Friday nights. He said Josh Gordon is a great running back and poised to have a great season.

Defensively, Gary Payne on the defensive line and Gabe Davis at linebacker are both expected to have big seasons. “Those three are our leaders,” Taylor said. “They have come to practice with great attention to detail and eagerness to master their craft.”

This is Taylor’s first season as head coach of the Pam Pack and he said this is a new team and the players are buying into the new system. “

Not too often in life does anyone truly get a fresh start. This is one of those cases for me, the staff, and the players. We have been determined to approach each day with that mindset and have the best practice possible,” Taylor said.
