The Seahawks open the season at home with North Duplin. Head Coach Jeff Carrow said the season will be determined by their returning players.
“We have some talented players on the team,” Carrow said. We have some spots to fill on the offensive line but the veterans on the line have been great leaders. As long as we can avoid injuries, we’ll be okay on the season.”
The running backs will be the key for Southside. Brain Salinas and TeQuon (Tater) Moore will be the main offensive weapons. Myquan Clark will also receive a healthy number of touches.
“Tater will make some big plays this year. Salinas is a sophomore fullback who loves the weight room and will step up big this year. Clark is a junior, who is new to Southside. He’s a great player and a great addition to the team,” Carrow said. He also mentioned wide receiver Nolan Dixon and his playmaking ability.
Carrow is excited for the season to begin, and he expects a more balanced attack offensively. “I feel like we’ll play better as a team overall,” Carrow said. “We switched up our system this year and there are more chances for guys to not think as much and just be athletes. We are putting kids in better positions to go and make plays.”
