About 25 people gathered by the Washington waterfront at 8:45 a.m. on Monday to honor and remember the 2,753 lives that were lost on Sept. 11, 2001 when planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon and into a field in Pennsylvania.
