WASHINGTON — Debra Ann Davenport Parks, 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family and loved ones on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow the service in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and at other times at the home of James and Frances Davenport, 3426 Cherry Run Road, Washington.

Debra was born and raised in Washington, where she spent most of her life and was a graduate of Washington High School.  Debra loved her pets, flowers, the beach, but most of all, her family.  She was always friendly and outgoing, never meeting a stranger.  She was involved in the AA Group of Washington, with which she had over 30 years sobriety.  There she made many friends and even helped sponsor some on their road to recovery.  Through that group, she met her husband, Tim, and married spending almost 20 years together.

Debra was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Tessie Evans; paternal grandparents, Johnnie and Birdie Davenport; and sister, Patsy Marie Davenport.

She is survived by her: loving husband of 19 years, Tim Parks; parents, James and Frances Davenport; daughter, Melissa Ann Nichols (Brandon Payne); sons, Christopher Martin Jones, and Derek Shawn Jones (Allison Duggins); grandchildren, Melanie Gene Harris, Hailey Summer Harris (Ryan Van Scoy), Sarah Jessica Frances Harris (Dylan Clark), Sebastian Payne, Carolina Jones, Jaxson Grey Foster, Aubri Jones, and River James Payne; and great-grandson, Waylon Jack Clark; and brother, Jay Davenport Jr.
