James Dalton Sears Jr., affectionately known as Jim, passed away peacefully from heart failure on October 5, 2023, in Greenville, NC. Born on April 30, 1958, in Charlotte, NC, and spent most of his life a resident in Hyde County Jim lived a life full of passion, love, and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
Jim was the beloved son of Mary Lou Alexander of Mississippi and the late James Dalton Sears Sr. He was the cherished brother of Napoleon Sears, Chris Sears, Joan Sears , and the late Pete Sears. As a father, he was deeply loved by his three children, Tracey Alanna Sears, Rachael Marie Sears, and Andrew James Sears. He was an adoring grandfather to Matthew Chance Garrish, Camaan Malachi Aldridge, and Emma Rae Taylor, and a proud great-grandfather to Orion Lee Garrish.
Jim completed his Associate’s Degree in Architectural Drafting, a testament to his meticulous nature and inherent creativity. His professional life was equally diverse, reflecting his many talents and interests. He spent many years working as a commercial fisherman and carpenter, roles that allowed him to demonstrate his resilience and resourcefulness.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim was an incredibly gifted musician, a talent that brought joy to many. He could play anything handed to him, but his heart belonged to the guitar, piano, and bass. His passion for music was infectious, and he was often found at the center of any gathering, providing the soundtrack to many cherished memories.
Jim’s life was marked by his love for his family, his passion for music, and his dedication to his work. He was a beacon of strength and resilience, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service for Jim, will be held on October 15th ,2023 at the St. Johns Episcopal Church, located in Sladesville,NC at 3 p.m. We Encourage everyone to come and celebrate Jim’s Life.
