On Oct. 19, 2023, William Charles Waters, age 36 of Washington, NC was convicted and later sentenced for the shooting that occurred at Slatestone Grocery in Washington, NC on Jan. 11, 2021.

William Waters was convicted of Felony Second Degree Murder and sentenced to 330 – 408 months (27.5 to 34 years) in the Division of Adult Corrections.  Waters’ conviction stemmed from the combined work of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, and District Attorney’s Office.
