Stoop named National Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, VA-For the first time in Bridgewater College volleyball program history Reagan Stoop has been named the AVCA/GameChanger Division III Player of the Week.
Stoop, a freshman outside hitter from Pungo Christian Academy in Belhaven, had a dominant performance in three matches last week totaling 78 kills in 14 sets played while swinging at a .313 clip to go along with a strong defensive effort putting up 41 digs.
In a match against EMU, Stoop helped carry the Eagles to a 3-2 victory ending the night with a kill/dig double-double of 21 kills and 13 digs. Three nights later, against Averett, Stoop chipped in 26 kills while swinging at an astounding .417 clip. On the defensive side, the outside hitter recorded 12 digs to end the night.
Stoop had a historic day to finish the week against Guilford where she downed 31 kills setting a new program single-match record. Stoop held down the net registering eight blocks (two solo) which is a career-high for the freshman and was also able to pick up 16 digs in the matchup. The Plymouth, N.C., native recorded the most points in a match in the ODAC this season 37.0.
In her first year with the program, Stoop holds two spots in team history for kills in a single match. She sits atop the ODAC and is seventh in Division III with 330 kills, while is second in the conference and 18th nationally with 4.18 kills per set. Finally, Stoop leads the league and is sixth in the country with 385 total points.
At PCA, the 6’0 outside hitter led the Raiders to consecutive state championships her junior and senior year. Was a four-time All-State, Tar Heel Independent Conference Player of the Year and tournament Player of the Year award winner and holds PCA’s career record for kills, service points and ace
