Mrs. Frances “Lyndell” Marriner Wahab, age 102, a resident of 651 E. Water Street, Belhaven, died Thursday, November 2, 2023 at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday November 5, 2023 at Belhaven Community Cemetery conducted by Rev. James Harold Lupton.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Wahab was born in Roper, N.C.  on January 25, 1921.  She was the daughter of the late George Lee Marriner and Emma Lee Chesson Marriner.  Mrs. Wahab graduated from J.A. Wilkinson High School in 1939.  She was a retired assistant postmaster at the Belhaven Post Office.  Mrs. Wahab was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.  In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting postcards, postmarks and sending birthday cards.

On October 25, 1941, she married Harry Leigh Wahab, who preceded her in death, June 21, 2002.

Mrs. Wahab is survived by a son, George Michael Wahab and wife, Mary Ellen of Belhaven; and two grandchildren, Brett Wahab Hargis and husband, Mike of Hendersonville, N.C., John Cole Wahab of Boone, N.C.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Wahab was preceded in death by her son, Harry Leigh Wahab, and a brother, Robert Clayton Marriner.
