Joint investigation leads to meth arrest

On November 01, 2023, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office along with the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 598 Ellis Cove Rd. Belhaven, NC and arrested David Anthony Scelsi on multiple drug charges. This arrest concluded a two-month long investigation into David Anthony Scelsi selling methamphetamine in the Pitt County and Beaufort County areas. As a result of this joint investigation, Deputies seized over 178 grams of methamphetamine along with an illegal firearm.
This search warrant stemmed from Deputies and Task Force Officers conducting multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine from David Scelsi. After serving the search warrant and collecting evidence, Deputies arrested David Anthony Scelsi age 62, at his home in Belhaven.
David Anthony Scelsi was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 secured bond under the following charges:
-(4) counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine
-(1) count of PWISD Schedule II Methamphetamine
-(2) counts of Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for Keeping Controlled
Substances
-(2) counts of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
-(2) counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Since January 1st of this year, Deputies have seized more than 662 grams of methamphetamine off the streets of Beaufort County. Deputies are committed to keeping dangerous drugs out of Beaufort County by partnering with other local, state and federal agencies in Eastern North Carolina.
