Shepard Cancer Center Development Council announces new board members, officers

WASHINGTON, NC – The Shepard Cancer Center Development Council is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Development Council and also the appointment of its slate of officers for 2023-2024.
The new members joining the council are:
1. Inda Hill – Inda is a Washington native and a former educator. Inda once served as a volunteer at the Cancer Center and the Center holds a special place in her heart for the wonderful care provided to loved ones.
2. Mary Kathryn McGahey – Mary Kathryn is a Washington native and owner of Swan Point Solutions, an orthopedic durable medical equipment company. Mary Kathryn is a former board member of the Turnage Theatre during a time in its history when it raised funds for the restoration and reopening of the theatre.
3. Mary Skinner – Mary is a resident of Cypress Landing. Having moved to the area from Virginia a few years ago, Mary quickly became actively involved in helping support and organize several large events in the community. Mary’s life, like so many has been touched by cancer.
Officers for the 2023-2024 year include: Jack Piland, chair; Marvin Alligood, vice-chair; Catherine Pfeiffer, secretary; and Pam Allen, treasurer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Inda, Mary Kathryn and Mary to our development council, said Piland. Each brings valuable skills and a dedication to our mission of supporting local cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.”
The mission of the Shepard Cancer Center Development Council is to financially support and promote the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center in its efforts to improve the mind, body and spirit of cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. In addition, the development council supports the Cancer Center in its efforts to promote prevention and early detection of cancer.
