 Julia Ellen Foster Guthrie Hopkins, age 91, a resident of the Pamlico Beach Community, died Sunday November 19, 2023, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday November 25, 2023, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and will be officiated by Dean Fulford, Jr. Burial will follow in the Pamlico Beach Community Cemetery at Ryder Hill. Pallbearers include Freddie Hopkins, Montie Hopkins, Jody Hopkins, Cody Foster, Curtis Wayne Wilkins, and Bonner Sawyer.

Mrs. Hopkins was born in Beaufort County on April 4, 1932, to the late Bert and Minnie Foster. She attended and played piano for Belhaven Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Hopkins was the owner of Guthrie Seafood. She was a devout Christian, enjoyed playing piano, and loved her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda G. Spence and husband Ronnie of Gaston, two sons, Freddie Hopkins and wife Abbie of Pamlico Beach, Montie Hopkins and wife Bridgette of Pamlico Beach, seven grandchildren, Ronald Spence, Jr.  and wife Renee, Douglas Spence and significant other Allison, Freda Hopkins, Joshua Hopkins, Jody Hopkins, Shirley Hopkins, Noah Hopkins, nine great grandchildren, Ariella Spence, Morgan Hopkins, Katie Hopkins, Harrison Hopkins, Leanne Prince, Frankie Voliva, Samuel Foster, Oden Hopkins, Lane Hopkins, four great great grandchildren, Layla Prince, Madison Prince, Lily Prince, Mason Prince, Lexy Tate, Ava Voliva, Cody Foster, a brother, Wendell Foster and wife Linda of Pamlico Beach and her caregiver Ann Potter.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Earl Guthrie, her second husband, L. Medford Hopkins, and two sisters Ada Lee Tally, and Diane Potter.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday November 24, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
