KINSTON, N.C. –  On Monday, Senator Jim Perry (R-Lenoir, Craven, Beaufort) announced that he will seek a third full term in the North Carolina Senate.

Last month, the General Assembly passed new district maps for Congress, NC House, and NC Senate. These maps are now law and will take effect for the 2024 Election. Voters across the state have been learning more about their new districts, and the candidates running to represent them.

“Serving the people of Eastern North Carolina in the state Senate has been among the highest honors in my life,” said Perry, “Recently, I was both humbled and thrilled to lead the effort to secure $350 million of funding to support FRC East and the over 4,000 jobs it currently represents.   Economic prosperity does not stop at imaginary county lines.  This effort allows us to support MCAS Cherry Point and a multi county economic footprint in eastern NC.

This Senate seat belongs to the people of Craven, Beaufort and Lenoir Counties.  The people of eastern NC have made it clear they value effective representation, not speeches from someone seeking personal attention.  I would be honored to continue serving the people and working to make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The new Senate District 2 remains exactly as it did for the 2023 and 2024 Legislative Session, encompassing all of Craven, Beaufort and Lenoir County.

A native of Kinston, NC, Jim Perry was the first person in his family to attend college. Perry graduated from Lenoir Community College, NCSU, and earned an MBA at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He spent his career in the Health Care Industry, where he rose to become the Chief Operating Officer of a company with roughly 3,000 team members in 40 states. Perry was elected by his colleagues to serve as Majority Whip in his first full term and his colleagues reelected him to that leadership position during this session.  He currently serves as Chairman of the Committee on Finance.
