Mrs. Merle Ann Donahue Baker, age 87, a resident of Washington, died Wednesday November 29, 2023, at ECU Beaufort Hospital in Washington.
A private burial will take place and information about her memorial service will be announced by Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
Mrs. Baker was born in Rowan County, daughter of the late Luther Donahue and the late Kate Duncan Donahue. She attended Brown High School in Kannapolis. On April 11, 1953, she married Charles Lindbergh Baker, Sr. who survives. Mrs. Baker was a clerk in the mail room at Hamilton Beach. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting as long as her health permitted. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington.
Surviving along with her husband are her children: Charita Lynn Evans and her husband Ike of Washington and Luther Daniel Baker of the home; a granddaughter: Andrea Lynn Carver and her husband Raymond of Williston, ND; and a great grandchild: Anderson Hall Carver of Williston, ND. She was predeceased, along with her parents, by a son: Charles L. Baker, Jr.
