Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In my humble opinion the National Collegiate Athletic Association is making a big mistake by letting its member schools and players use the transfer portal.
Used to be a fan listened to the name of the player and it helped his hometown and high school that he attended for recruiting purposes. Now, it’s his former team or college that he attended!
As a former college coach, we never got a player who transferred into our school that was not a problem. We had one that never played that was recruited by the NFL. What happened to the days of the high school recruit?
The NCAA allows a school to have 85 kids on scholarship at one time and they will allow them to recruit up to 25 every year as long as they do not supersede the 85. Whatever happened that? That was 5 years ago. I do not know what high school coaches do for relationships with college coaches today. I use to enjoy the college coaches coming by every Friday. They could show me what I was doing wrong or what I was doing right.
The thing I worry the most about is how it is going to affect kids 20 years from now. Are they going to want to say hit the transfer portal or are they going to tough out when things get rough in life? We as adults make it so easy for our kids and the tough decisions they won’t face straight up. What we were used to growing up will not be the same as it used to be.
They were best of times with the best of friends and in the best of places, Washington, NC! The Original Washington!
