Winford Lee West, 70, died suddenly at his home in Raleigh, NC on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Lee was born in Bessemer, Alabama, on December 12, 1953, to the late Winford Ray and Willie Eileen Palmer West. He will be remembered most for his intense love of family and friends. Whether it was a family vacation at the beach, on his boat on the river, the golf course with friends and business associates, a party at the pool in his backyard, or traveling the world with his wife, Lee always had a smile on his face and enjoyed living life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and friendship to all that knew him.

Lee is survived by his wife, Diana Mendes Nunes West; his four children, Mitchell (Amy) West, Michael (Eadon) West, Agnes da Costa (William Brendle), and Alleph da Costa; his seven grandchildren, Matthew Pitt, Maya West, Andrew West, Molly West, Ryan West, Nora West, and Travis West; and his three siblings, Kenneth (Dianne) West, Diane (Steve) Marshall, and Mark (Melanie) West.

A celebration of Lee’s life will be held in early January in Raleigh, NC. The date, time, and place of the service will be forthcoming.
