Mr. Myron Perry Elliott, age 91, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his home.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday January 5, 2024, at St. Clair’s Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen and Jonathan Phillips. Burial followed in St. Clair’s Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ricky Windley, Gregory Clayton, Gary Mason, Jonathan Phillips, Buddy Ross, and Hunter Phillips.
The family received friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
Mr. Elliott was born in Beaufort County on October 12, 1932, son of the late George Delma Elliott and the late Grace Lloyd Elliott. He was a 1950 graduate of Bath High School and received his bachelor’s degree in theological studies from Roanoke Bible College in Elizabeth City. On August 28, 1954, he married the love of his life, the former Elizabeth Smith. He had several occupations including farming, herdsman, rancher, and minister. He was the owner of G & M Farms along with his son. His ministry led him to preaching at Lowland Church of Christ, Scranton Church of Christ, West Belhaven Church of Christ, and Mt. Olive Church of Christ, where he served for twenty years. He was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ, where he was an Elder and Sunday School teacher after retiring from his ministry. Mr. Elliott was a board member of Pungo District Hospital, the local school board, and Tideland Electric Membership Corporation. He was also a member of the Angus Cattle Association Mr. Elliott got satisfaction from his work, allowing him to provide for his family. He also loved going on cattle farm tours with his wife.
Surviving along with his wife Elizabeth of the home are his children: George Howard Elliott and his wife Paula of Belhaven and Beth Elliott Woolard of Washington; a sister-in-law: Betty Elliott of Bath; five grandchildren: Jonathan Phillips and his wife Kristie, Patsy Elliott Brown and her husband Daniel, Christine Elliott Youker and her husband Jimmy. Christopher Phillips and Brenda Elliott Kozik and her husband Chris; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a son: Myron Perry Elliott, Jr., a grandson: George Howard Elliott II; two brothers: G.D. and Horace Elliott; and his sisters: Ethel Hickman, Evelyn Elliott, Marie Mason, and Christine Tarr.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Clair’s Church of Christ, Building Fund, 9814 NC Highway 99, Bath, NC 27808.
