Bonnie Fay Wiggins Potter, age 58, a resident of Vanceboro, NC, died Monday January 8, 2024 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday January 11, 2024 at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity and will be officiated by Joe Ange and Greg Thomas. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ray Dement, Josh Evans, John Martin, Doug Atkins, Tommy Hodges, and Russell White. Honorary pallbearers include, Donnie Dement and Donald Hodges.
Bonnie was born in Beaufort County on January 14, 1965 to Johnnie Mayhue Wiggins and Shelva Jean Buck. On January 18, 1987 she married Raymond Lee Potter. She graduated from Beaufort County Community College with her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Mrs. Potter worked as a CNA, worked at Belk’s in Washington, Nursing homes, Whites Farm and also as a private Duty Home Care nurse. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, the ocean, dolls, her pets and building Legos with her grandchildren. She was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and True Light Baptist Church in Virginia.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Potter of the home, a son, Dustin Potter and wife Danielle of South Boston, VA, a daughter, Victoria Evans and husband Josh of Skipwith, VA, her mother, Shelva B. Wiggins, four grandchildren, Everly, Peyton, Hunter, Aydan, with one on the way, a step grandchild, Sadie, and three beloved pets, Jubilee, Joey, and Rocky.
She is preceded in death by her father, Mayhue Wiggins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home of her mother, 179 Chandler Road, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
