Woolard wins twice, teams finish third

The Washington High School boys and girls swim teams took third in their first swim meet of 2024 Saturday morning at the Moore Aquatic Center.
J.H. Rose and Croatan finished in front of both Pam Pack squads.
Southside and the White Oak Swim Club also competed.
Sophomore Aubrey Woolard led the Pack with victories in the girls 50-yard freestyle in 27.09 seconds and the 100-freestyle in 1:01.49. She was part of the third place 400-free relay team with Lydia Smith, Caroline Mitchell and Eva Hill and teamed with Smith, Hill and Kathryn Gautier to finished fourth in the 200 medley relay.
Smith was sixth in the 100-backstroke and seventh in the 50-freestyle, while Gautier was fifth in the 100-breaststroke, seventh in the 200 individual medley and teamed with Mitchell, Maggie Wilder and Emma Orr to take sixth in the 200-freestyle relay.
Mitchell was seventh in the breaststroke, while Orr was seventh in the 100 and 200-freestyle.
Evan Makepeace led the Pam Pack boys with a second place finish in the 50-freestyle (25:61) and the fourth spot in the 100-freestyle. He was also part of the third place 200 medley relay team with Wayland Mitchell, Davis Jones and Keenan Curtis ad teamed with Tanner Moore, Curtis and Gabe Niederhauser to finish third in the 200 freestyle relay.
Jones was fourth in the 100-breaststroke, while Curtis was fifth in the 50-freestyle and seventh in the 100 freestyle.
Moore, Mitchell, Adam Mizelle and Niederhauser finished second in the 400-free relay, while Moore was fifth in the 200-freestyle as was Niederhauser in the 100-freestyle.
Southside’s Jacob Tayler was fourth in the 200-freestyle.
