CHOCOWINITY – Lane closures on U.S. 17 Business in Beaufort County are scheduled to resume Wednesday to allow the contractor to complete the preservation work on the bridge now that materials have become available.
The contractor plans to shift traffic into a two-lane, two-way pattern on the northbound side of the bridge at 8 a.m. This will allow crews to safely install the bridge joint materials on the southbound side.
Once complete, crews will shift the traffic to the southbound lanes doing similar work in the northbound lanes. Upon conclusion of the installation of the joint materials, final pavement markings will be installed on both sides once temperatures allow.
This work is anticipated to take several weeks and is weather dependent.
Traffic should use caution as the traffic pattern will change and be alert to crews working in the area.
