Pam Pack swimmers crowned conference champs

The Washington High School girls and boys swim teams claimed Eastern Plains Conference titles with decisive victories Saturday at Minges Natatorium in Greenville.
The Pack swam past Southwest Edgecombe and Green Central 127-78-28 in the girls meet and trounced the same two schools 133-36-32 in the boys meet.
Sophomore Aubrey Woolard posted another strong showing with victories in the 50 (26.5) and 100-yard freestyle (58.92) and teamed with Lydia Smith, Kathryn Gautier and Eva Hill to win the 200 medley (2:22.19) and 200 freestyle relays (2:08.24).
Smith won the 100 backstroke (1:25.79) and finished second in the 50 freestyle (30.93), while Gautier won the 200 individual medley (3:10.79) and combined with Hill, Caroline Mitchell and Emma Orr to win the 400 freestyle relay in 5:25.36.
Mitchell won the 100 breaststroke in 1:35.88 and was fourth in the 100 freestyle. Orr finished second in the 200 freestyle and Hill took third in the 50 freestyle.
Junior Evan Makepeace led the Pam Pack boys with a win in the 100 butterfly (1:07.14) and teamed with Wayland Mitchell, Jacob Spivey and Keenan Curtis to win the 200 medley relay (2:10.91) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:57.79). He also finished second in the 50 freestyle in 24>38 seconds.
Senior Davis Jones won the 100 breaststroke in 1:29.27, while Curtis, Adam Mizelle, Tanner Moore and Gabe Niederhauser combined to win the 400 freestyle relay in 5:00.39. Curtis was second in the 100 backstroke and fourth in the 50 freestyle, while Niederhauser was third in the 50 freestyle.
Moore was second in the 200 freestyle, while Mizelle took fifth in the 50 freestyle.
Moore finished second in the 200 freestyle, Spivey was second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 100 freestyle and Mitchell was third in the 100 backstroke.
Next up is the 2A regional at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary on February 3.
