Margarette Alease Randolph King, affectionately called Margaret, peacefully ascended into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2024.  A native of Washington, North Carolina, she was born on April 17, 1932 to the late Leon Rhodes, Sr. and the late Naomi Taylor Randolph. She was educated in the Washington City School system and graduated from P. S. Jones High School. Following high school, she attended Winston-Salem State University and graduated from Durham Business College in Durham, NC.

For thirty years, she owned and operated Mar-Lo’s Flowers and Gifts in downtown Washington, providing the finest in floral services to Eastern North Carolina. A successful business owner and active member of the community, she received many awards for her contributions to include a twenty-five-year service award from Temple of Jesus Christ United Church, the Entrepreneur Award from Key Women of America, Inc. and the Living Legend Award from the G. R. Lovick Scholarship Fund.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, Zeno Westley King; her five siblings; Dorothy Randolph Merritt, Leon Rhodes Randolph, Jr., Louis Taylor Randolph, Frank Taylor Randolph and Theodore Bonner Randolph, Sr., and a nephew, Leon Rhodes Randolph, III (Trey).

Left to reflect on her life and cherish wonderful memories are one daughter, Jennifer King Congleton; her beloved grandson, Julian Ray Randolph Congleton; a great-granddaughter, Kylie Chanel; devoted sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive visitors Friday, February 16, 2023 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W MLK Drive, Washington, NC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Temple of Jesus Christ United Church, 906 W 8th Street, Washington, NC, beginning with a visitation at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. The interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery on John Small Avenue, Washington, NC.
