Southside senior offensive lineman Noah Smith’s career will continue at Elizabeth City State University in the fall.
The 6’3 240 lb. guard/tackle worked his way up through the program to start last fall and contributed on both sides of the ball.
“He challenged himself to get better and ended up earning a starting spot on the offensive line,” coach Jeff Carrow said. “He is a versatile guy who helped us at guard and tackle and held his own on the defensive line as well. He did well in our trap scheme and pulled well as a guard. He had a solid three years in our program.”
Smith visited Chowan University and North Carolina Wesleyan, but was most attracted to the Vikings.
“I liked the location a lot because it’s close to the beach and to home,” Smith said. “I liked that they want the football team to do community service and other activities off the field. I’ll play anywhere they want, but defensive end is my favorite because it’s fun to attack the quarterback.”
Smith plans on majoring in Sports Management while thinking about being a coach someday. He said his Seahawk highlight came this fall.
“I had a lot of fun beating Pamlico County for the Fossil Bowl,” Smith said. “I played pretty well and it turned our season around.”
