Mrs. Prado was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 17, 1952. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Boyd and the late Janice Buck Boyd.  She attended Chocowinity High School and worked in the medical administration field for many years until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She was also a homemaker and loving wife to her husband Albert who survives.  Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, whom she adored, and traveling across the country with Albert in their RV.  She had a great passion for food and cooking and was always hunting for new recipes to sample and discuss.

She is survived along with her husband Albert by her daughters: Melissa Simons of Washington, Melanie Elks and husband Mark of Washington, Candace Little and husband Melvin of Clyde; grandchildren: Haley Schlaeger, Jack Simons, Charlotte Simons and Haeden Little; a brother: Tommy Boyd and wife Barbara of Chocowinity; a sister: Karen Weatherly of Durham; a brother: Billy Boyd and wife Marsha of Blounts Creek; and many special aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
