Beverly Dunn Holt, age 84, a resident of Bath, NC, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, surrounded by her family.  She was born on March 7, 1940, in Greenville, NC to the late Winfred G. Dunn and Anne O. Dunn.

Beverly grew up in Greenville, NC in a large family, being the first of five children.  She was a graduate of J.H. Rose High School and East Carolina University.

Beverly began her thirty-year elementary school teaching career at Robersonville Elementary School and in 1974 she and her family moved to Bath, NC.  It was then that she transferred to Bath Elementary School and taught third, fourth and fifth grades.

After retiring, she and her husband John began traveling around the world.  They visited many countries and all the fifty states except Hawaii.

Beverly is survived by her beloved husband: John Carawan Holt of sixty-six years, daughters: Katherine Holt-Elliott (Louis), RayAnne Holt Jarman (Bobby), daughter-in-law: Carol Holt, her grandchildren: JohnScott Cutler (Erin), Elizabeth Knox (Michael), Sarah Messick (John), Kelly Elks (Brooks), Kristen Holt, Katherine Ann Holt, Miranda Guinn (Branson), 14 great-grandchildren, brother: Derek P. Dunn, and her sisters: Elaine McCloy (Steve) and Darla Wright (Allen)

Along with her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved son John “Jay” Holt, brother: Garland Dunn, and a great-grandchild: Lilly Knox.

Beverly’s nephews: Scott McCloy, Daniel McCloy, Peyton Dunn, Nathan Green, and grandsons: John Scott Cutler, Brooks Elks, John Messick, and Michael Know will serve as pallbearers.

Beverly was a long-time member of the Bath Christian Church and an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Bath Christian Church, 107 S. Harding St. Bath, NC 27808 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Services to honor and remember Beverly will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024. A visitation will take place at the Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Home starting at 2:30pm until the funeral hour.

Following the visitation, a graveside funeral service will be conducted at the Oakdale Cemetery at 3:30pm, officiated by Pastor Harry Smith.
