WPD makes arrest in fatal shooting, investigation on-going

Washington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, Mar. 29 at approximately 11:42 p.m. in the 500 block of Haven Street. The police department and Washington Fire and Rescue responded to the scene where 43-year-old Jimmy Lee Ruffin was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Ruffin was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In connection to the shooting, 54-year-old Quinton Boston, of Washington, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Boston was later released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
Washington Police Department Investigations Division responded to the scene and conducted an initial investigation. They learned two parties involved in the incident know each other, and a dispute over money may have led to the shooting. The involved parties and witnesses are cooperating with the investigation.
The investigation into the shooting is on-going.
