Washington’s Emma Orr and Northside’s James Sawyer turned in superlative pitching performances this week as both pitched no-hitters in road conference games.
Orr, who struck out all 21 batters against East Carteret earlier this season, whiffed 14 of the 15 Greene Central batters she retired in Tuesday’s 15-0 rout of Eastern Plains Conference foe Greene Central.
The Pack (9-3, 4-1) pounded out 14 hits as Carly Woolard, Addison Miller, Micah Lilley, Emily Little and Peyton Youmans collected two hit. Youmans hit a home run and drove in three runs.
Sawyer fanned 10 of the 16 Southside batters he faced Wednesday night in the Panthers 10-0 victory over Coastal Plains Conference rival Southside.
Freshman Trenton Allen and senior Griffin Johnson had two hits and drove in three runs to support Sawyer, while Hunter Chrismon had a pair of hits and RBI.
Northside defeated the Seahawks, 5-0, Tuesday night to run their record to 12-3 and 4-0 in the league. Southside is 4-7.
